Wied hiking trail

Route: Hachenburg - Linden (Wiedquelle) - Dreifelder Weiher - Steinebach - Wied - Ingelbach - Altenkirchen - Berzhausen - Seelbach - Döttesfeld - Oberlahr - Burglahr - Heckerfeld - Fernthal - Neustadt/Wied - Roßbach/Wied - Waldbreitbach - Hausen - Niederbreitbach - Datzeroth - Altwied - Neuwied The approx. 103 km long hiking trail leads along the meandering Wied from the source to the confluence with the Rhine through densely wooded but varied nature. The peace and seclusion of the Wiedtal is certainly a good choice for those looking for relaxation.
The tour starts in Hachenburg and leads past the Wiedquelle near Linden to the Dreifelder Weiher. From there it always goes along the Wied through Steinebach, Wied, Ingelbach to Altenkirchen. At Schöneberg, the hiking trail briefly leaves the Wied to meet the river again at Seelbach. The next destination is Döttesfeld, from where the hike leads via Ober- and Burglahr to Neustadt/Wied. Passing Altenwied Castle, you get to Roßbach and on to Waldbreitbach and Niederbreitbach. From Altwied it is only a short distance to where the Wied flows into the Rhine near Neuwied.
Hiking route R1

Route 1 takes you from the Wiedhalle through the romantic, natural Wallbachtal. You leave the Wallbachtal and now go uphill to the Spreitchen district. From here you can enjoy a great view of the Wiedtal and Roßbach. Now they hike over a ridge via Scheuerchen to Reifert. Here you can see both the wonderfully situated Wallbachtal and the romantic Wiedtal. When you have walked through reifert, turn right. The path now leads through a beautiful forest area and now also downhill back into the Wiedtal to Arnsau. After crossing the Wiedbrücke, follow an ascent up through the Wolfsthal. You leave Breitscheid and now walk through a meadow landscape to the "Roßbacher Häubchen". Once here, it is worth climbing to the top of the "Häupchen". Now the descent towards Roßbach begins.
Hiking route R2

Route 2 takes you from the Wiedhalle along the Wiedpromenade to the center of the village. You now begin the ascent over the "Jesäsje" in the direction of Finkenberg. On the ridge you now hike above the Wied in the direction of Weißenfels. Now you reach Weißenfels and the viewpoint "Weißenfelser Ley". From the rock you have a breathtaking view of the Wiedtal. Now the path follows back to Weißenfels. Now follow the path to the left through lush meadows in the direction of Rahms. You now walk along the edge of the forest in the direction of the launch site for our hang-gliders. From here you can also enjoy the beautiful view down to Roßbach. Now it goes through a romantic ravine steeply down to Roßbach.
Hiking route R3

Route 3 takes you along the Wieddamm towards Waldbreitbach. Just before the sports center, turn left into the forest. The path leads past the forest cemetery back to Roßbach. Through the street "Im Hohn" you come back into the forest. You can now see the district of Lache below you. Continue hiking above the beautiful Elsbach valley and now cross the road to Breitscheid. You will now reach the "Roßbacher Häubchen". Once here, it is worth climbing to the top of the "Häubchen" to enjoy the great view. Here you can also use the information boards to find out about the basalt mining there in the past. You are now leaving the “Häubchen” to walk briefly in the direction of Breitscheid. You now descend into the beautiful Masbachtal. Now they cross the Masbach in the direction of Roßbach and are now back at their starting point.
Hiking route R4

Route 4 takes you from the Wiedhalle through the romantic, natural Wallbachtal. You leave the Wallbachtal just before the Wallbachsmühle turn left in the direction of Bremscheid. At the end of the ascent you reach Over on the left. Here you can enjoy the view of Waldbreitbach and the middle Wiedtal. At the end of Over, follow the path on the ridge to get an enchanting view of the Wiedtal to the right and left. The path now leads you via the romantic Walburg Castle back down into the Wallbachtal.
